Mother Deer... Dear Mother...

...to the moon and back.

Many moons ago, in a time when nature still ruled the world, the winter solstice had

arrived. It would be the longest night

of the year. The last night that the moon would rule the sky before giving way to the sun

and to the New Year.

Before the sun could once again shine and the New Year begin the sun goddess, Danu,

had to return. It was the task of

Breya, the deer mother, to guide her home.

Breya had a young daughter named Freya, who, since she were just a small fawn,

would go with her mother on her

journey.

And what a journey it was!...
